Devotional for Today "How to Flee from Evil" Dr. Danette M. Scott

Archbishop Dr. Danette M. Scott

When we come up against a spiritual battle, we must know that the enemy is a cold joker. He is so cunning and charismatic in all his/her ways. We forget as Christians that we too have been saved by grace, yet were once sinners. I urge you men and women of God to get suited for battle; Finally, be strong in the LORD and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can stand against the devil's schemes. Ephesians 6:10-11. We know he is everywhere we go but not at the same time. The Devil has to ask God if he can mess with a child of God. He is given authority as God gives him a path. We have to be vigilant, because your adversary the devil would and can devour you; Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like raring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings; I Peter 5:8-9.

Remember that the devil wants to keep you in bondage. Bondage allows you to be tied up in mess. Junk from your pass. A shopping cart full of bags with garbage in them; Anyone, then, who knows the good he ought to do, and doesn't do it, sins. James 4:17. You know the devil uses whom ever he wants to entice you into doing the unthinkable. If you know a situations looks like its heading that way, resolutely refuse to consent to his/her drama; My son if sinners entice thee consent thou not. If they say, Come with us, let us lay wait for blood, let us lurk privily for the innocent without cause: Let us swallow them up alive as the grave; and whole, as those that go down into the pit. We shall find all precious substance; we shall fill our houses with spoil. Cast in thy lot among us; let us all have one purse: My son, walk not thou in the way with them; refrain thy foot from their path: For their feet run to evil, and make haste to shed blood. Surely in vain the net is spread in the sight of any bird. And they lay wait for their own blood: They lurk privily for their own lives. So are the ways of every one that is greedy of grain; which taketh away the life of the owners thereof; Proverbs 1:10-19; Stand form and do not vacillate, or be moved by any thing or anyone; Therefore my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.

Avoid the paths of the wicked and be sure to turn from it; Do not set foot on the path of the wicked or walk in the way of evil men. Avoid it, do not travel on it; turn from it and go on your way: Proverbs 4:14-15. Pray earnestly, fervently for God to give you victory over sinful thoughts, words and deeds, as did the Psalmist; Who can discern his errors? Forgive my hidden faults. Keep your servant also from willful sins; may they not rule over me. Then will I be blameless, innocent of transgression. May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer; Psalm 19:12-14.
