Dallas Christian Fiction Author, Mary DeMuth, enlighten's The Washington Post on the need to take sexual abuse more seriously

With a chilling memoir named Thin Places, author Mary DeMuth recounts the grueling pain of being raped at the tender age of five. Her story touched the heart of many who relate to such terrible events. But, her story didn't just stop with the agony she encountered. She reached out and hugged us all with the powerful story of God's unexplainable love for us- even in the midst of the most dark and painful times. 

Mary went beyond her memoir and started a blog where readers were able to share their "Thin Place" with the intent to help them in their quest for healing. She recently was able to share more of the facts behind sexual abuse and the need for it to be taken more seriously as a guest voice in The Washington Post.

" I don't want to live in a culture of silence anymore. It's time we not only listened to the frightened pleas of children, but also mustered the guts to do something about it. Even if it means upsetting institutions or being ostracized. We must be a voice crying in the wilderness for the sake of those who don't have the wherewithal to protect themselves. We must value children more than we value clergy status. We must value the inflicted person more than the institution silently afflicting. "
